History
They live in the very heart of the Typhon expanse. At one time their were a dozen planets and close to 20 moons in their system but as a result of numerous experiments and other questionable scientific endeavors they were all destroyed. Now their system is a mine field of abandoned science experiments, defense stations, asteroids and other potentially dangerous refuse and hazardous materials.
As with their system, their own planet has undergone numerous changes. Once a fertile paradise it is now a toxic wasteland with life only possible within the few domed communities that are scattered over the surface. A population of almost 13 billion has been reduced to just over 4 million. Many of these died as a result of experiments going wrong and millions more were the subject of intentional experiments and those few that did survive were then the subjects of vivisections that were performed to see how the subject had been altered, changed or survived.
Now life is very controlled on their world. They have exhausted all the possible variations on all the experiments they could ever possibility conduct on their own people, home world and system. Now they look else where for new test subjects, science challenges and ideas to experiment on.
Over half of the abnormal special anomalies with in the Typhon expanse are a result of their careless experimentation.
Government
They are ruled by a scientific council that has 3,333 members. Membership in this council is usually for life and is the result of a lifetime of scientific achievement, usually at the expense of other species and cultures.
Description
The Ubernash have enlarged heads, almost twice the size of most humanoids. Their eyes are almost three times the size of most humanoids but the rest of their features are basically the same as most humanoids. They have a slight tuff of hair on the tops of their heads. Their bodies are frail with very thin legs, arms and bodies. Almost as if they were malnourished.
They stand about 5 foot tall however you will almost never see one standing. They all sit is hover chairs. These chairs seem to be built to not only support and move them in comfort but to be functional as well. Most have built in nourishment and waste disposal systems as well as various other systems that can often include weapons and defensive shields.
Physiology
They have long thin fingers that allow them to perform extremely difficult and highly dexterous tasks. Their eyes see in more than the normal wave lengths and their ears can detect and monitor a wide range of sound decibels.
However they tend to be very weak physically as most of their muscles have become atrophied from lack of use.
Psychology
The reason you will never see one of them walking is because that is beneath them. They are much to advanced to still be forced to rely upon their own physical forms for motion. They are also totally 100% emotionally detached. They seem to have no feelings but do have a love of science and experimentation. To them all other life forms are laboratory specimens to be examined and dissected.
Another unusual aspect of their psychology is the fact that they consider their own species just as worthy of scientific experimentation and as a result each and every one of them is expendable, especially if by sacrificing one of their own they can learn some new nugget of knowledge.
Religion
None. However they treat science and the need for new knowledge with the same driving force that some true religious zealots have. Anything is permissible if it results in some tiny new tidbit of knowledge.
Mythology
None. They have no time for fantasy. Facts are all that matter. When they run into anything they do not already understand they study it to death until they do understand it completely.
Society
Every waking hour and every single bit of resources is dedicated towards the search for knowledge. They have no time, interest or inclination towards any other activity. As a result there are no recreation facilities, art complexes or parks. Every available bit of space it taken up with labs, automated production facilities, automated processing plants or maintenance facilities.
Culture
The only thing they have that even faintly comes close is their fiendish practice of preserving any and all species they come into contact with. Unfortunately this usually is after they have been dissected alive. Huge specimen facilities have been constructed in which to preserve each and every fragment, organ and sample.
Customs
Unknown at this time, although it may be more accurate to assume that they do not have any. Logically as an intelligent species they may and probably did have some at some time, however these seem to have been forgotten as irrelevant and unimportant ways to waste valuable time better spent in a lab.
Technology
They are highly advanced, even more so than most Federation member worlds and take great care to ensure that this technological advantage never falls into the hands of other species. All of their cities are encased in domes with highly advanced power, recycling and maintenance systems. Almost off of these systems are automated and or manned by various types of robotic workers.
They have created thousands of machines to do every single possible task imaginable. This way they do not have to do anything themselves.
Economy
They are self sufficient as they have no outside needs except for rare chemicals, metals, elements and numerous replacement lab specimens.
Military
They use robotic soldiers and small floating weapons platforms for infantry and numerous forms of repair droids, engineering robots and maintenance nanites. This allows them to construct small warships with larger engines, more powerful shields and greater destructive ability from their weapons systems than would normally be expected on a ship that small. In many cases only a single living life form will be on any given ship at any given time.
