With the defensive grids around Earth and Mars, do you mean one around Earth and one around Mars or grids surrounding the two together? I'm still researching different viewspoints and making extrapolations on the most probable direction in regards to the Mars Defence Perimeter, which I believe is what your question is regarding. This is a base-bone "non-canon" assessment in the end, which is open for interpretation.
