====Italics====
We can use italics to mark alien language and/or human words that are different from English. You can also add a OOC note with the translation at the end of the sim.
Example:
'''Klingon warrior''': ''nuqDaq 'oH puchpa''e'''1?
Garcia blinked in confusion, opened and closed his mouth for a few seconds, and raked his mind for the Klingon: 101 knowledge he had forgotten in a hangover on Starbase 1 almost a decade ago.
'''Garcia:''' Hum... to the far right?
The warrior nodded and followed his directions at a brisk pace, as the dark-haired NCO sighed to himself.
'''Garcia:''' ''Ay diosito''2 , I've just got away with it.

Formatting Your Sims

The Ronin SIM format corresponds with that used in the academy and detailed in Training Tutorial 1.

Subject Lines

A typical subject line for a sim on the Ronin will look like

Character Rank and Name: Sim Title

For example:

You do not need to specify if the character is an NPC, PNPC, or MSPNPC in the subject line. If a sim is particularly long or you are writing a joint post with someone else, split the sim into two parts and label them in the title:

  • JP: Commander Karrod Niac & Vice Admiral Makisig Corcino: Smug PADD Pusher (Part 1)
  • JP: Commander Karrod Niac & Vice Admiral Makisig Corcino: Smug PADD Pusher (Part 2)

No Tags or Location Markers in the Subject Line

Aboard Ronin, we do not list characters that are tagged for a response in the subject line, and we do not list the location of the sim in the subject line.

We refrain from doing so to encourage everyone to read each sim. You never know when you might want to tie in something that someone else has introduced in another scene or another location, even if it isn't a direct tag for your character!

Bolding

Do not bold entire paragraphs. Common uses of bolding include:

  • Location headers: ((Sickbay, USS Ronin))
  • Signatures
  • Character Names: Niac:

Other Good Practices

These good practices are not mandatory, but they will improve readability or add extra flavour to your conversations!

Italics

We can use italics to mark alien language and/or human words that are different from English. You can also add a OOC note with the translation at the end of the sim. Example:

Klingon warrior: nuqDaq 'oH puchpae1?

Garcia blinked in confusion, opened and closed his mouth for a few seconds, and raked his mind for the Klingon: 101 knowledge he had forgotten in a hangover on Starbase 1 almost a decade ago.

Garcia: Hum... to the far right?

The warrior nodded and followed his directions at a brisk pace, as the dark-haired NCO sighed to himself.

Garcia: Ay diosito2 , I've just got away with it.

OOC:

1 nuqDaq 'oH puchpae → Klingon: where is the bathroom?

2 Ay diosito → Spanish: Oh my God

Telepathy (and related)

The same as the oO thoughts Oo we must mark the telepathy conversation (touch telepathy or whatever) between these particular signs : these : ~~. You can type them with ctrl+alt+4 Example:

Sern: ~~You should not have done that, you know?~~

Teller: ~~Well, yeah, too late now, don't you think, buddy?~~ ::Out loud:: And so ends my presentation on how to deal with an unsolicited katra1.

Sern: ~~Sometimes you are just insufferable~~

Teller: ~~The pot said to the kettle. ~~

OOC:

1Katra → Vulcan, akin to “soul”

Locations

It is a good practice to start from the most specific place to the most general one (e.g.: room/deck/ship).

Example:

((Ico Ena's personal quarters, deck 8, USS Ronin))
