Hello! — I'm Ryan (He/They) and I am currently writing for the primary character Doz Finch. Say hello on discord: thelovelycorpse#5400 OOC Rank start date November 2022 File:DOZFINCHENS.png Ensign Doz Finch 62-year-old Human Engineering Officer (USS Gorkon) Doz Finch is a Human who hails from the english city of Birmingham, on Earth. It was never her dream to become an engineer like so many in her family, but happened through necessity. Left behind to care for her miserable mother, in a house full of constantly broken robots and appliances, her brother suggested she read repair manuals to keep herself busy, inadvertently planting within her the seed of escape. Encouraged by her best friend Murphy, she used the skills she had learned to catapult herself into an enlisted career, leaving her grim life behind. Forty years on, and with the loss of her beloved friend Murphy, she takes an offer to commission and start anew——though droplets of the life she left behind begin to re-emerge. We all like what we like. As a roleplayer, and as a writer in general, I've always enjoyed and preferred telling the stories of characters that have already led full and varied lives, and not for the reason people may think. There is this idea that once you reach a certain point in your life, you become free of your strange traits and habits and rituals. I don't think that this is true in the slightest. For a lot of people, their unchecked persona's can fester, become riddled and complex and even a little archetypal. These are the characters I love to write. If I'm not on a city-break somewhere in Europe, then it's watching a Netflix show with some good food. Why did you join 118? I love to tell stories and craved a solid and secure place to tell them in. The added bonus here is the deeply engaging sense of community. What are your goals at Starbase 118? Where does one even begin? for now it's to learn from others, become better at simming, and to build a character menagerie. Long term I'd like to try my hand at Academy instructing, and eventually write for my NPC Gepe Grasa, which I hope is an attainable goal.
