History
This species evolved from a primitive cave dwelling race into an advanced, civilized cave dwelling race. They never left the caves, just dug to increase the size as it was needed. Over time they moved deep underground and constructed their cities. As a result when aliens first visited their world they could not detect any power sources, communities or signs of an advanced species.
This was fortunate as the first aliens to visit failed to find anything worth invading and taking. They moved on and attacked another species instead. The Wandigo monitored the various communications signals that they detected and were able to learn about the various conflicts going on between various species. When they learned that the Yahvelan had been able to free them selves and were now able to defend them selves they contacted them and suggested an alliance. At first the Yahvelan were not interested but eventually a deal was struck and the Yahvelan Protectorate was born.
Government
They do not have any formal central government. Each tribe controls and rules a well defined section of the planets surface. Each tribe is controlled and ruled by a tribunal of 3 individuals. These are the tribal chief and he selects and trains his replacement from among his children. A shaman who selects his replacement from among his students. It is usually the best qualified individual who has shown the best understanding of medicine. The 3rd is the seeker who also selects his replacement from among his best students who study science.
When ever some matter affects more than one tribe the leaders of each tribe debate the issue and then cast one vote towards the final multi-tribal conclusion. Majority rules. The first planet wide use of this system was when they accepted membership into the Yahvelan Protectorate.
Description
These humanoids are on average about 7’4” to 7’10” and weight about 350 lbs to 450 lbs. They have 3 fingers and 1 thumb and 4 toes. They have very pale almost white skin and grow long pale white hair. While they have no facial hair they do grow short thick patches of fur on their shoulders, arms, legs, chest and back.
While it can be hard to tell the males from the females as they have fairly brutish facial features and deep, low voices, the females tend to be slightly smaller than the males. The females also have small fur covered breasts.
As for clothes both males and females tend towards boots, pants and in cold weather a parka like jacket.
Physiology
They tend to be very strong, approximately 2.5 times that of a human male. They are very resilient to cold temperatures, harsh environments and most forms of biological disease.
Psychology
They seem to be slow making up their minds but in reality this is because they look at any and every problem from every angle they can think of. They have no reported history of natural mental illness. Most cases of accidental caused mental illness were treated successful by their medical personnel.
Religion
They have a belief in two deities. A brother and sister who were the first seeker and shaman. These individuals created the first of their kind and taught them to survive in the world.
Mythology
Many tales of the great beasts that threatened the first people. It was only with the help of the first shaman and the first seeker that the first people survived.
Society
All their cities are deep underground so as to not mar the surface of their world. These cities can and do cover vast areas with huge chambers connected by massive tunnels. On the average most cities do not house more than 500,000. These cities are built to be both efficient and pleasing to the eye. They are incredible achievements and almost all the cities are connected by a magnetically powered transit system.
As for the people who live in these cities. They live peacefully with themselves, each other and most importantly their world.
Culture
Almost everything they build or create has graceful lines and is pleasing to the sight. This includes their cities, machines equipment and facilities. Sculptures, carvings and various art forms that recreate natural life forms can be seen everywhere. Their music is very rhythmic and tends to mimic the sounds of nature.
Customs
The first hunt is a coming of age for all males. During this they travel to the surface where they are expected to survive with no modern equipment for 30 days. At the end of this they are considered a man and can take a mate. The female equivalent is to be secluded from the tribe and survive in a small chamber with very little water and food for 30 days.
Technology
Certain technologies and medical treatments are vastly superior to anything within the Yahvelan Protectorate. Most notable their lighting and heating technology for their cities which creates no toxic waste.
Economy
They are completely 100% self sufficient and require nothing from any other species. However as members of the Yahvelan Protectorate they do provide their supply of raw materials as required under the treaty. However none of these raw resources come from their homeworld.
Every tribe on the planet provides workers who will spend a year in space mining asteroids and living in the various mining colonies they have established with in their own system. In this way they are able to provide the raw resources needed by the Yahvelan Protectorate with out offending the spirit of their home world.
Military
They do not have any military forces. However since becoming members of the Yahvelan Protectorate they have gained access to military technology. Since armed conflict is so foreign to their nature what they have started to do is convert many asteroids into mobile weapons platforms. These weapons systems uses their advanced power generation tech and an incredibly advanced artificial intelligence program.
While the work progress’s slowly they have managed to convert a few hundred so far. Many of which have been moved so as to better protect the homeworld. None have been placed so as to protect any other facility within the system.
Federation Intelligence Files
Unknown at this time.
