We are an all-volunteer organization with limited resources. We will always listen to and consider reasonable accommodation requests on a case-by-case basis for qualified simmers. Disability policy

In UFOP: StarBase 118, it is our community’s goal that simming experiences be as accessible as possible to as many people as possible.

As a function of participation in our community, you must be able to do each of the following items an average of at least three times a week:

  1. Read and comprehend fiction written in English;
  2. Assemble, and send via email, fiction written (or dictated to speech recognition software) in English.

Members who can meet this established baseline, and have their application approved, are considered qualified simmers.

Qualified simmers that anticipate or experience barriers to participation based on disability are encouraged to notify us (via their training officer and commanding officer after placement) to explain the nature of the disability and what kind of reasonable accommodations would be helpful.

We are an all-volunteer organization with limited resources. We will always listen to, and consider, reasonable accommodation requests on a case-by-case basis for qualified simmers. However, we cannot guarantee that will always be able to meet accommodation requests. In the event that we cannot, we will notify the qualified simmer of this in as timely a manner as possible, and propose a compromise if possible.

We welcome open dialogue regarding ways in which we can make reasonable accommodations for all qualified simmers.
