On stardate 238807.15, the John Paul Jones was asked to investigate a deviation from the filed flight plan of the USS Ronin, which was supposed to be running simple warp tests after extensive repairs at the Utopia Planitia Fleetyards. Upon hailing the Ronin, the John Paul Jones was fired upon and a short battle lead to the capture of a small band of mercenaries who had been trying to hijack the Akira class vessel.
