The system is not terribly complex and while vast, is accessible by voice and key commands. It controls and can retrieve information related to the vessel and information stored in the computer core. It has access to all areas of the ship and is the library on which school children are taught and Starfleet Cadets research. Essentially, LCARS is the ultimate Encyclopedia for everything.
