'''Physical Description:''' Skye is a young woman with a rather unusual appearance due to her dual heritage, being born as a child of two worlds. She can be described as a light skinned humanoid with long, flat golden blonde hair reaching her mid back. It’s often worn loose unless it gets in the way while performing her duties, otherwise worn in a neat braid. Her frame can be mentioned as lithe, slightly muscled, and athletic.

Running from both sides of her forehead, head and neck all the way down to her toes, spot patterns, typical to the Trill people decorate her skin. They are prominent, although not as solid as those of her father. Colored a grayish beige instead of black or brown.

There’s a noticeable scar on the left side of her neck, one which she tends to hide with her uniform’s collar. Often avoiding talking about the situation that caused it.

<!--Let's start with your sidebar! Take out Harry Kim's info above and put in your own character's information. Valid colors are Red, Gold, Blue, Teal, Violet, Black, Silver, and Green. Remember those colors as we'll be using them for the section headers in the rest of this bio.
She’s often seen wearing a Starfleet issued, Picard Era Science uniform. A blue collared ensign, with a delta badge proudly displayed on the left side of her chest. A silver pip pinned to her shirt’s collar. The one thing that isn’t Starfleet issued is the necklace she wears most of the time. A leather string with a small fang attached to it as a pendant, belonging to a quadrupedal species from her home world, specifically an elderly Ina Raptor.

Not all ranks are available in all colors. Use full rank names (except for Lieutenant JG and Lt. Commander, and Lt. Colonel). Pipstyle can be changed from Default to DS9 or Slanted. See the table later in this bio for examples of each. There is also an extra STO pip set, but it works best in the table rather than in the sidebar.

Skye Shepherd, was born within the rural city of Heran’zul, nestled within a valley encircled by hills and mountains, the area experienced frequent rainfall, resulting in a landscape abundant with verdant vegetation, comprising various species of grasses and wildflowers. The inhabitants primarily engaged in livestock farming, a practice they had maintained for centuries, contributing to the picturesque, albeit somewhat unchanging, environment.  The village, which is located on the M-Class planet, Trill. Her childhood home happened to be an antique farmhouse which Orrin and his wife had bought not long after their first and only daughter was born, an environment closely related with nature. Being raised by a member of the Symbiosis Commission and a devoted scientist. He had spent the last four years of his life on a Starfleet assignment being promoted from Ensign to Lieutenant Junior Grade. Just in time to watch his daughter grow and reach her important milestones for an infant.  Ranging from her first words to first steps, learning how to navigate her home-world, and all culture it had to offer.

Grayish blue eyes and a lightly muscled frame. His current rank in Starfleet being a Lieutenant Commander within the Science Division. Serving onboard a Starship. Mostly seen wearing the blue collared shirt, from the Starfleet issued uniform, along with its corresponding pips and Delta comm badge.
On Stardate 238102.05, her father now aged 27 (two years after Skye’s birth), was to be joined with a 250 year old Symbiont by the name of Castel who held the memories of four previous hosts. The initial, surgical procedure ran successfully. Although the adaptation process for the young man would be proven a battle hard to win. Thus, a slow recovery process was about to begin. Which wouldn’t allow him to return to his post onboard the USS New Jersey NCC-1975 as Chief Science Officer for a long time period (Eight years to be precise).

During that time (from ages 2-6), she was homeschooled and taught by a private tutor and close friend to her father, Salus Vex. Member of the Trill Science Ministry, who taught their daughter various subjects ranging from math, literature, biology, astronomy, amongst many others. Allowing her to value the rich culture that had shaped their people to become one with their environment. While her spare time was spent looking after the farm and enjoying time outdoors, coming to understand the wildlife inhabiting their forests.

While she was the one to raise her, tensions between the two never seemed to subside. While she still cares about her mother, the corruption of their relationship doesn’t allow for much closure to occur. Although the young hybrid has tried for their bond to improve, only so much can be done.
Skye and her family moved to the capital city of Mak’ala two years later (238810.15) due to her mother’s diplomatic duties within the Federation due to Klingons happened to be posing a threat towards the Beta Quadrant. Being allowed, for the first time in her life, to attend school amongst other kids. Her parents grew prominent within their jobs, with her father, now known as Orrin Castel, being allowed to return to his post onboard the USS New Jersey after eight years of struggle to adapt to his assigned symbiont. Back to a life amongst the stars. Along with it a promotion to a higher rank as lieutenant within the scientific division.

For an American woman, she is considered to be tall standing at 5’10.” Her build is similar to Skye’s by having an athletic frame with some lean muscles. All features are light, with blonde hair reaching the upper half of her back and gray eyes. Often seen within her diplomatic garments. With fancy hairstyles due to her diplomatic and ambassadorial background.
Often, the nine year old hybrid would be invited to fancy banquets alongside her mother, who had been newly appointed as Earth’s diplomat for the embassy located on Trill. Thus, their family became recognized by many across the city. Which meant their quality of life slowly began to improve, regardless of the rural city in which their life had once begun. Their relationship was close to the Symbiosis Commission's board being the main people to protect such a sacred legacy from the symbionts that remained, both joined and unjoined.

She began showing promise through her interest in understanding all fauna and flora surrounding their home. Visiting the caves in order to hold long conversations with unjoined Trill, known as the Guardians who looked after several symbionts awaiting for their hosts within the pools she denominated to have been their natural habitat for countless centuries. One of her first friendships while living in the capital happened to be one of the initiates waiting to be joined, sharing stories about the different worlds in which they stood.

Every once in a while, holographic transmissions from her father would reach their home. Never truly feeling as though he had left. The Shepherd-Triyan family held strong ties amongst its members, even if some days were tense amongst them. She’d always wondered what life beyond their home world looked like. What creatures could be found beyond the forests surrounding different, Trill provinces.

'''<big>Life Aboard the USS New Jersey:</big>'''

She genuinely cares about her colleagues and will go out of her way to offer support, even if it means pushing through her own anxieties. Skye’s kindness is evident in her interactions, as she always tries to see the best in people and empathizes with their struggles, regardless of their background. She is especially sensitive to the balance between her human and Trill sides, often feeling caught between two worlds. This internal conflict makes her particularly attuned to others who feel out of place or are struggling with their identities. Her determination shines through in her scientific work, as she dreams of making discoveries that could help others understand and appreciate diverse life forms across the galaxy.
At the age of 12 (239107.03), Skye Shepherd began a new chapter in her life aboard a Starfleet vessel, the USS New Jersey (Constitution Class), alongside her father, Lieutenant Commander Orrin Castel. This transition marked a significant shift from her previous life in the rural expanses of Trill to the disciplined and dynamic environment of a starship. Skye’s father, a seasoned Science Officer in Starfleet, had resumed his duties aboard the vessel after his symbiont joining, and she was eager to experience the life her father had so often described.

Skye may come across as overly cautious or nervous at times, but her kindness, empathy, and determination to do what’s right make her a cherished member of any crew she eventually joins.
Life aboard the starship was filled with the constant hum of technology, the whirr of transporter beams, and the quiet bustle of crew members moving between departments. Skye quickly found herself fascinated by the ship’s advanced systems, the warp core’s steady pulse, and the immense sense of exploration that permeated the corridors. She would often spend time in the observation lounge, gazing out at the vastness of space and the stars that appeared to dance as the ship moved through the cosmos.

'''Backstory:'''

'''Childhood and Life in Heran’zul'''
Her presence aboard the ship was not one of mere observation; she was included in many facets of life on the vessel. Lt. Cmdr. Castel, though busy with his duties, ensured she had access to educational programs, scientific seminars, and opportunities to interact with Starfleet personnel. As a hybrid of Trill and Human heritage, she was intrigued by the diverse crew, particularly those with varying backgrounds in science, medicine, and engineering. Their unique perspectives and the advanced research aboard the starship broadened her curiosity about the galaxy beyond Trill.

Skye Shepherd, was born within the small city of Heran’zul located within the M-Class planet, Trill. On Stardate: 237912.11 to her parents, 25 year old Starfleet Lieutenant JG. Orrin Triyan (Trill) from the Science Division and 23 year old Diplomat —— Shepherd (Human), member of the United Federation of Planets.

The first couple of years  within her life were spent close to both of her parents and the rural environment in which they lived.
While the environment was new and sometimes overwhelming, Skye adapted quickly to the rhythm of life aboard a Starfleet vessel. She came to appreciate the structure and order that characterized the ship’s daily operations. She spent time in the ship’s science labs, learning firsthand from officers who studied everything from alien biology to astrophysics. It was in these moments that the hybrid  began to understand the interconnectedness of the universe and the importance of exploration and discovery.

Skye’s bond with her father deepened as she accompanied him during off-duty hours, often walking the length of the starship’s halls or enjoying quiet meals in the mess hall. Though the life of a Starfleet officer could be isolating, the ship’s crew formed a close-knit family, and she was embraced by that sense of community. Her father, though often engaged with his duties, made time for her whenever possible, ensuring she remained grounded amidst the intensity of the ship’s mission.

During that time (from ages 2-6), she was homeschooled and taught by a private tutor and close friend to her mother, Salus Vex.
She had not only adapted to life on the USS New Jersey but had come to embrace the ideals of exploration and service that Starfleet embodied. Her early experiences aboard the starship would shape her aspirations to one day join Starfleet herself, following in her father’s footsteps as an officer of the Federation.

On Stardate: 237912.11 to her parents, 25 year old Starfleet Lieutenant JG. Orrin Triyan (Trill) from the Science Division and 23 year old Diplomat Eden Shepherd (Human), member of the United Federation of Planets.

The first couple of years  within her life were spent close to both of her parents and the rural environment in which they lived.

Moving to Mak’ala

Life Aboard the USS New Jersey:

At the age of 12 (239107.03), Skye Shepherd began a new chapter in her life aboard a Starfleet vessel, the USS New Jersey (Constitution Class), alongside her father, Lieutenant Commander Orrin Castel. This transition marked a significant shift from her previous life in the rural expanses of Trill to the disciplined and dynamic environment of a starship. Skye’s father, a seasoned Science Officer in Starfleet, had resumed his duties aboard the vessel after his symbiont joining, and she was eager to experience the life her father had so often described.

She had not only adapted to life on the USS New Jersey but had come to embrace the ideals of exploration and service that Starfleet embodied. Her early experiences aboard the starship would shape her aspirations to one day join Starfleet herself, following in her father’s footsteps as an officer of the Federation.
