Talons are razor clawed Hunger-lings with the innate ability to support the slower Gorgons and provide distraction and defense for them. They are symbiotic with the Gorgons.
Recorded visuals show them crawling over the hulks of the Gorgons absorbing enemy phaser fire so that the larger beast can reach its target.
