Ancient History
This period in their history is still very sketchy. The discovery of an ancient written language that dated back more than 3,000 years was both shocking and a revelation. This discover was made by a Professor Anson Robertson of the Federation Archaeological Division. He was working with a number of local Laudean experts. Using advanced Federation equipment they had identified a number of possible sites to excavate. They based their decision of which location to dig in first based on the data available.
At no time did they think they would be uncovering not only a fairly large city but a number of well preserved chambers that had countless scrolls. Prior to this discovery they had believed that the earliest know written language was about 2,500 years old.
Further excavations done on the site as well as the translation of the scrolls has revealed that the city had been a fairly old one that had existed for over 500 years before being destroyed approximately 3,300 years ago. At this time the best guess is that some kind of natural catastrophe forced them to abandon their city.
As of yet no excavations have been commenced at any of the other locations identified as possible sites for ancient communities. This is for a couple reasons. First that the Laudeans lack the funding to commit to more than one location but an even more logical reason is that the current site has only had about 1/10th of its total area excavated. Many of the numerous artefacts already uncovered still need to be catalogued and studied, not to mention the countless scrolls that still need to be translated.
So far the experts seem to agree that this civilization was surprisingly advanced. Translated scrolls show a complex system of taxation and a very diverse economy. The buildings were built to last using engineering techniques that were lacking during later periods in their history. As of yet they have not learned the reason why the city was abandoned or why this civilization seemed to vanish from history.

Migratory Tribes
Based on fossils and other excavated artefacts it is believed that the Laudean people lived a basically migratory existence around from about 3,000 years ago to 2,750 years ago. At this time there is no evidence of a written language. Cave paintings are numerous from this period but lack the sophistication that has been found in the first city.
Evidence of these primitive peoples have been found in almost every region.
Creating Communities
The first evidence of settled communities seems to indicate that approximately 2,750 years ago the way of life changed. Settlements were developed, crops were grown and harvested.
A form of primitive pre-language has been found carved into stone and burned into hides and wood. Unfortunately not enough of it has been discovered to allow any attempt at translating it at this time. To further complicate this problem is the fact that many of the symbols used do not seem to have been used over a very wide area.
Founding of Cities
According to all the data and physical evidence, the first proof of large cities and true civilization seemed to indicate that they were developed approximately 2,300 years ago. We now know this is not true. However there are literally thousands of preserved documents and other artefacts from this time period that has made it possible to paint a fairly reliable picture of just what life must have been like during these time.
Rise of Empires
Around 2,000 years ago the foundations for the numerous kingdoms were laid. What followed was a period of strong growth mixed with internal conflict within these kingdoms and numerous external conflicts with neighbouring kingdoms.
Over the next 700 years the boundaries on these kingdoms changed frequently as wars were fought and many of the smaller kingdoms were absorbed.
The Great Death
Approximately 1,300 years ago a virulent plague erupted in the Kingdom of Rania. It would spread to affect every single kingdom and community on the planet. By the time it had finally run its course between ½ and 2/3rds of the entire population had died.
As a result all conflict slowed to a stop. The following 250 to 300 years were almost completely peaceful as each kingdom was more concerned with first survival and then with recovery.
Industrial Advancement
Around 1,000 years ago certain technological advancements made it possible for more food to be grown using less man power. This resulted in the development of more advanced specialists and the eventual creation of educational facilities that were available to individuals other than the nobility and the rich.
The resulting prosperity resulted in a decline in external conflicts and a noticeable increase in populations.
The Great Wars
As a result of the rapid population growth and the increase in technology that allowed more and more production with the use of less and less man power most kingdoms were able to expand and develop. This resulted in increased friction between certain regions and eventually resulted in the outbreak of war between the Kingdom of Tanal and the Kingdom of Bryque about 450 years ago.
This conflict eventually spilled over to affect all the kingdoms and over the next 83 years their was some form of warfare being fought between at least 2 of the kingdoms at all times.
Unification
In response to this world wide madness all of the titled monarchs eventually agreed on a cease fire. They were able to eventually after many debates and much disagreement transform this cease fire into a lasting peace. The other even more momentous result was the forming of a unified world government that they hoped would end all wars. To their credit it did.

Great Revolution of Til'ahn
For years a surge of general unrest had been growing among the non-aristocratic population. Public sentiment from the masses was turned against the privileged few who ruled over them. It finally reached a point where all it would take a slight nudge. In this case the spark was created as a result of their establishing first contact with a sentient alien species.
What would eventually become known as the Great Revolution of Til'ahn (it occurred in 2380) swiftly gathered force and almost before they knew it the elite aristocratic few were in terrible danger. Many powerful aristocratic families were forced to flee the planet. Others were attacked and many were killed. Almost ½ of all the aristocrats perished during this revolt.
It was a massive coup that resulted in drastic changes to the overall political system. It resulted in the formation of a new government that was lead by non-aristocratic civilian leaders.
Shortly after this while the new government was still in its infantile stages they were approached by representatives from 3 different major political powers. The Federation, the Romulans and the Zalkonians. This resulted in all 3 establishing Embassy’s within the boundaries of their capital city of Lokesh City.
Occupation of Duronis II
Following the removal of the Federation Embassy due to various internal issues the Romulans quickly took advantage of the situation and invaded. The size of the force was large enough that the Zalkonians were powerless to interfere in any way. In less than a week the Romulans had wiped out most of the Laudean military and crushed most of the defiance out of their society and spirit.
This occupation was to last until the Hobus star exploded and destroyed their homeworld. As a result of this the Romulans removed all their forces and ships and left.
Rebuilding
With the Romulans gone the incredible task of
