Elaysia[note 1], more specifically Elaysia II[1][2], is the homeworld of the Elaysians and a member of the United Federation of Planets. The surface gravity on the planet is only a fraction of the standard gravity on most habited planets. As the local species, including Elaysians, have evolved in the low-gravity environment, moving to higher gravity environment causes them mobility issues. Elaysia is largely a tropical planet. Physical characteristicsA notable characteristic of Elaysia is the planet's unusually low gravity.[3] The gravity is only ⅛ of the standard gravity, such as the one experienced on the surface of the Earth. In the low gravity of Elaysia, dense objects such as individuals would not typically float, but falling would take significantly longer. As such, a person could jump further and remain in the air longer than in standard gravity, allowing more mobility mid-jump.[4] Elaysia experiences rainy seasons that could last months. The increase in humidity made locals feel hot, flushed and dizzy.[5] Even outside the rainy seasons, Elaysia has high humidity.[6] The average climate on Elaysia is warm.[7] In most habited areas, cold weathers are rare and occure when the rain season coincides with mid-winter.[8] Elaysia has oceans, seas and mountains.[9] Solas are places where sola grow. Sola are a types of crystals and gems. At dawn, dusk, and during eclipses, they become bioluminescent.[10]
Flora and FaunaThe species on Elaysia have evolved in the planet's low gravity. Due to the anatomical differences, adjusting to standard or high gravity is difficult or impossible. In higher gravity environments such as most habited planets and Starfleet ships and stations, Elaysians typically needed to use wheelchairs or exoskeletons for support to allow them to move. Some types of medical treatments allowed Elaysians to better function in standard gravity environments, but these treatments are experimental and unreversible, and thus typically undesired.[11] Parts of Elaysia is covered in tropical rainforests and jungles.[12] Elaysian butterflies live near the seas. In folklores, spotting a butterfly by a body of water indicated calm waters.[9] Mermaid sharks are a species of flat-faced fish living in warm waters, often fished by Elaysians.[12] Other species native to Elaysia include wild deers[13] and dogs[14], as well as various fruits[15] and flowers[16].
Classic Elaysian dogs come up to somewhere between your waist and hips in height. Are known to be grey in color, thin yet strong, with ears pointed up. They are built similar to the evolutionary ancestor to horses; built to run. [17] Giant Koi [18] HistoryEven after achieving warp drive and joining the interstellar community, few Elaysians left their homeworld. In part due to the limitations caused by different higher gravity than on their homeworld, very few Elaysians joined Starfleet, first being in the late 24th century.[3] NotesReferences
