When Marcus was studying in Primary school and secondary school, he was constantly bullied due to his ambition of wanting to follow his Fathers footsteps in Serving Starfleet Security, but he was also constantly bullied for how he was Half human and Half Bajoran.

After reaching College, he was able to meet some like minded friends of his own who wanted to join Starfleet and after the group got accepted into the Academy in San-Francisco, they all spent their first night celebrating and drinking, but after that night, he learned that he should never drink again for his own.. personal reasons.

His mother, Fenyid Barric, although a very reserved woman, was adventurous and always wanted too look beyond her home planet of Bajor.

His father, Jonathan Wainwright, was a rather successful chef, before becoming a Security officer within Starfleet, like his mother, he wanted to explore the planets beyond his home of Earth.

One day, during John's shore leave on Bajor, he met Fenyid in a small bar where she worked. After the two started talking for many years, John finally worked up the courage to propose to her. The two have been happily married since, with 2 wonderful children, (At least in their eyes).
