History
A race of humanoids. Like the Rigellians, the Bandi were a people transplanted from their homeworld onto a terraformed world.
During the mid-24th century, a group of Bandi captured an injured spaceborne entity and brought it to the surface of Deneb IV. The Bandi nourished the lifeform back to health, but kept it only strong enough to use its unique ability to change energy into matter. Too weak to leave the surface, the creature was imprisoned on the planet and forced to manifest itself as Farpoint Station. In 2364, the lifeform's mate came to Deneb IV to free it, attacking the nearby "Old Bandi City". This attack led the crew of a Starfleet vessel to realize the nature of Farpoint Station and give aid to the injured creature, allowing it to rejoin its mate in orbit of Deneb.[3] The Bandi were then refused Federation membership due to their enslavement of another life-form.

Technology
The Bandi are noted for the creation of Farpoint Station, built in an extremely short time on Deneb IV, which they then offered to Starfleet. However, upon investigation, the attending Starfleet crew discovered the station was a spaceborne entity enslaved by the Bandi. Following its liberation, Starfleet and the Bandi scheduled Farpoint Station's reconstruction.[5]
