Amira was born on Leya-I the homeworld of her race, she had very loving parents that gave her everything they could. As she grew up Amira made many friends and joined in as many extra-scientific things she could, though she was an adventurer at heart so often would go on random walks. Once she left school Amira wanted to explore the galaxy, but this would be a problem with her needing the correct mixture of oxygen and nitrogen density.

Amira has two ways to combat the effects normal air density, first was steroid based medication and the second was a face mask re-breather. She prefers to use the mask on away missions and the hypospray as needed on the ship, the mask has changed shape and size over the years as Amira redesigned it.  Over the years she is getting less and fewer reactions to the changes.

After she passed the academy the Al-Leyan was posted to the USS Endeavour, as one of her Operations Officers with her main duty was in supplies. After her first journey to the Delta Quadrant to resupply and drop off several new members for the outpost and the USS Darwin-A. With the resupply and short patrol over the Endeavour returned to Starbase 118, where Amira was transferred to the USS Clovis.
 
Once she made it onto the ship they headed off on a mission to find a stolen ship the USS Yarahla in the process of the search the Clovis was hit and damaged by a solar flare. With the Clovis on its final legs, the Yarahla came to their rescue and beamed all the survivors onto the Luna Class vessel.
