Personal History

Shane grew up an only child. When Shane's father died of a heart attack. He was left with a void in his life. He grew up an angry child. He had no male authority figure to look up to. Growing up, he thought that the world was out to get him. His mother Ann a doctor worked on various colonies throughout much of Shane's childhood. He grew up with his grandparents on earth in Nevada, U.S.A. When he was not in school. He would spend time with his mother where ever she might be at the time.

Spending time with his mother was something that he looked forward to doing. She has a passion for her patients and would do anything for them that she could. His mother not being in Starfleet did not have the pleasure of getting what medical supplies that she might need at her beck and call. So she would work through what ever channels that she had to get them. Most of the time that meant that she would deal with either the black market or smugglers to get them. So at an early age Shane learned to read people to know what he had to say or do to get what was needed.

A friend of Shane's mother, a smuggler named Larry Desmedt would tell him stories of far away lands and people that he would meet oh his journeys. Shane knew that this was the life that he wanted. But what mother would want her child to grow up and become a smuggler. So she suggested to him that a career as a Starfleet doctor might be what he was looking for. And she sold him on the idea.

He knew that if he was going to make this happen. He would have to work on his studies and get his temper under control. While in school. Test showed that he excelled in the sciences. So it only seemed natural for him to him to choose the field of medicine to work in. He now had a way to channel the rage that he had inside himself. His work, he enjoyed the fact that he could help others. It gave him a good feeling inside, it gave him a new found purpose. After graduating college, Shane knew that he had all of his ducks in a row. So Shane applied to Starfleet Medical School and was accepted. He now knew that his dream was about to come true.
