::After scaring Ensign Fenelli out of her whits, Adam and T'Var left the room and began to walk through the corridors. Adam was rushing to Engineering and T'Var seemed happy to be tagging along. Within a few moments, T'Var received a comm call::

::T'Var nodded her head to Adam, and he nodded back. Adam could sense that she was curious, and his curiosity matched hers. Whatever was going on must have been important. But whatever it was, Adam would have to find out later. He had business to attend to in Engineering. Taking the nearest turbolift, he sped through the tunnels of the ship to reach his humble hubble, his workplace, which also seconded as a home when he didn't feel like getting up and leaving. The warp core was always a calming force - whether it was the slight humming that it gave off, or the glow itself, it always comforted Adam, and perhaps that is the reason that he spent as much time as he could down here. Or, perhaps it was just that he liked to work. Whatever the reason, it was his favorite place to be on the entire ship. Taking a seat on one of the most uncomfortable rolling chairs on the ship, Adam began to log information for memory storage. He monitored the subspace emitters, the plasma coils, the storage bays, the bussard collectors, and even the replicators in the Trident. What seemed to take an hour was actually accomplished over seven, and Adam felt the exhaustion creeping up on him. Still in his chair, he rolled across the empty room and sat in front of the warp core. Standing up, he crossed the barrier in front of in. He pressed his face against the vibrating blue-white glass, and immersed himself in the world of antimatter. Oh, what is must be like to be antimatter. A long-searched for, yet deadly element. Something necessary for transport, yet as deadly as the radiation that fired the bombing at Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Sometimes, he envied the antimatter. He envied its very being - its ability to conquer any foe. He longed for the peace of never facing an enemy again. Never fixing another console. A world of perfection. In many ways, he followed the same goals as the Borg, although not to the same extreme. He found himself in a world where almost everyone was an enemy. Everyone was out to be better than he and everyone was out there to crush his goals. Almost no one really cared about what he strove for -- even the mighty Federation. To them, he was simply a number on a console, a pawn in a larger outlook for society. Sometimes, he wished that he meant more, that he could do more, that he could feel more. But alas, life wasn't like that.
 
Life is out to get you. Life is out to ruin you. Life is out to destroy everything that you believe in. And unless you can somehow learn to tame life, you are inevitably doomed. Adam dreamed that he could one day achieve that one thing that everyone wants. That one thing we all strive to attain - perfection.
 
He removed his face from the cold glass, and walked away from the core. Sitting back at his desk, he placed his head on his arms, and cried.::
