Zylandra Sh'Prellon was born and raised on Weytahn where her four parents owned a successful business in raising, breeding and dealing with livestock. It all started by importing animals from Andor and integrating them into Weytahn as production animal and later grew to all kinds of animals.

Zy grew up knowing that she wanted to follow her shen mother's footsteps to be a doctor for these creatures. Her whole childhood and teenage years she had more of a connection to animals than to people, other than her own family.

The Prelleon Clan had always been friendly with the Zian Clan, through Zy's chan father Eron. Zy later learned that the families had promised an arranged marriage with their son Ishrerynya and two other not yet determined parties. She accepted her fate, but put off to actually do anything to follow that promise.

Zy studied with her shen mother Tilla until she was old enough to be admitted to be admitted to Veterinary Medical School. Upon graduation her parents began to push her into the direction of starting her own family. They learned that Ishrerynya had joined Starfleet and was being transferred to the USS Constitution. Through several channels, a spousal privilege request and sheer luck of it being a family ship with pets, they managed to find a position on the same ship for Zy. Through various challenges and transfers the promised spouses eventually agreed to break off the deal. Zy remained on the Constitution to continue her work.
