Physical Description
5' 7" tall weighing 180 pounds. His short brown hair and piercing blue eyes reflect his Celtic background.
He appearance is stocky with well developed muscles. He obviously keeps himself in peak condition and moves with the grace of a trained warrior giving off a vibe of barely contained energy that could explode at any moment.
Character Description
The shortest description of Will is "intense". He has trained since an early age to be a warrior.He is constantly looking for the danger and calculating a plan of action. Like most military types he is most happy when he is in motion doing something. Sitting around is not something he does well. He is action orientated and struggles with purely academic activities that do not have an application. He believes strongly in the Federation and has been known to get misty eyed when the Federation Flag is raised.
His guiding ethos is honor. He lives his life trying to perfect his warrior hood. This has in his mind many levels of meaning. To defend the innocent and vulnerable. Then there are various levels of dealing with conflict:
If someone attacks with the intent to kill then you bring the conflict to a conclusion by killing them. If someone attacks you with the intent to kill then you bring the conflict to a conclusion by wounding them, however they will survive. If someone attacks you with the intent to kill then you bring the conflict to a conclusion by incapacitating them, however they have no lasting injury. If someone thinks about attacking you they look at you and decide not to try the attempt.
Your presence dissolves all violence around you into peace. So far Will has the first level down pat and is working on the second level!
Character History
Childhood:
Born on New Glasgow, a frontier world settled by Scottish families. Will was heavily influenced by his Uncle Bill a decorated Marine Commander. Uncle Bill trained Will in the martial arts from the age of 4, especially in Japanese swordsmanship and the art of Aikido. He has been raised on stories of honor and valor in battle. However, he is also aware of the price paid in blood and lives lost that is the defense of the Federation by generations of Rogers. Will has a huge extended family and enjoys his interaction with his extended family. His parents delayed his joining Starfleet and it took many arguments before he finally got his wish and applied.
While assigned to the USS Ronin Will matured as an Officer and a individual. He was promoted twice while serving on the Ronin gaining the ranks Lt Jg and full Lieutenant. Appointed to Chief of Security he has begun to realise that there is value in looking for non violent means to resolve conflicts. The many deaths suffered by Security have made him question the price paid during violent confrontation.
Most pleasing and surprising of all to Will is the relationship formed with Sarion the civilian consultant on board the Ronin. Despite their initial encounter where Will tried to toss her out of a staff meeting as a Security threat their relationship has slowly blossomed. Sarion agreed to leave the Ronin and accompany Will to the Independence rather than end their relationship.
