Evelyn was born ten years after her older brother Christopher. Although her parents would never dream to call her a mistake, there was little doubt that she was not intended consequence. While growing up, Eve demonstrated both a vivid imagination and a disappointing inability to make easy friends with her schoolmates. Her parents, rather than being concerned about her preference for make-believe friends over real friends, encouraged her to find happiness wherever she could. As she grew up, she made a few close friends, but struggled understanding, and being understood by, people at large. The unconditional love and support that she received at home prevented her differences from being too traumatic.
Eve's father, Eric, was a Starfleet engineer working for Utopia Planitia, which meant that Evelyn was constantly surrounded both by Starfleet officers and their families. With Eve's fear of change, it was little surprise that she decided to follow the lead of all those men and women around her and apply to Starfleet Academy.
