Sotam is a Vulcan Starfleet cadet currently undergoing his cadet cruise.
After being denied a position in the Vulcan Science Academy despite both his parents having positions with the institution, Sotam sought to apply himself elsewhere. After a period of drifting from place to place, finding each beneath his abilities (whether or not his peers agreed with the assessment), he was admitted to StarFleet Academy. After nearly dropping out his first year and being close to academic probation during his second, Sotam steadily improved during the second half of his training.
Between his varied interests and multiple changes to his academic program, Sotam developed a wide array of skills and knowledge. Sotam remains in close contact with both of his parents, who are the only family he has. Eventually, he plans to return to Vulcan as a successful StarFleet officer and offer his services to the planet that never seemed to appreciate him; at the moment, that remains a distant dream for Sotam.
