T'Mar is the daughter of a full-blood Vulcan male and a half-Vulcan half-Betazoid female. Growing up on Vulcan, she struggled with her empathy and keeping her own emotions in check. As a young child she was sent to intensive training to control her ability to sense others emotions, although she still struggles keeping her emotions in check all the time. Although her parents wanted her to join the Vulcan Science Academy, T'Mar decided to join StarFleet and have a better opportunity to meet other species, despite her struggles with her empathic abilities. At the Academy she majored in Security and minored in Ops, where she first met [[Cross, Debra|Debra Cross]]. Cross was one of her instructors at the academy and later became a security officer under T'Mar on the Apollo, before being switched over to tactical.

As a young child she was sent to intensive training to control her ability to sense others emotions, although she still struggles keeping her emotions in check all the time. Although her parents wanted her to join the Vulcan Science Academy, T'Mar decided to join StarFleet and have a better opportunity to meet other species, despite her struggles with her empathic abilities. T'Mar is quite a reserved individual and struggles to get close to anyone. In spite of this, she has managed to open up to a handful of co-workers over the years. Being part Betazoid, T'Mar always struggled to find a balance between her Vulcan upbringing and her empathic side. While some may view her abilities as a benefit, she has always viewed it as a weakness. As a small child, her mother sent her away to undergo strict training to suppress her abilities, but it was not until T'Mar met Zage Bolani that she discovered that she could control her abilities better when she understood how it worked. While it was still a daily struggle, for the most part T'Mar was able to keep her emotions under control.

After serving as Chief of Security for several years on the USS Apollo, T'Mar was taken by surprise when she was transferred off of the ship to the Gemini. It was then that she learned that the ship was being commanded by Liam Frost and she had been hand picked by him to be his First Officer. It was one of the proudest moments of T'Mar's career, but that did not last. After several difficult missions, including one that resulted in the death of an officer on the Away Team T'Mar was leading, she once again felt herself spiraling out of control. It did not help her cause when one of the ship's doctors Jerry Reid performed an experimental procedure that exposed T'Mar to an overwhelming amount of emotions. T'Mar was put on a treatment program, but she realized that the damage was done and she had lost her confidence in her ability to serve as First Officer. She did not want to leave the Gemini or Frost, however, as it had become almost like a family and home for her. After a discussion with Frost, she was placed in a Mission Specialist role where she was able to continue to advise him, but take a step back from other responsibilities that came with running a ship. While this change was emotionally hard on her, T'Mar was determined to find a way to get her career back on track in the long term. She took some time away to go to Vulcan for treatment before returning to the ship. Not long after, the Gemini was recalled and T'Mar was transferred to the Constitution as the Chief Intelligence Officer. She had mixed feelings about leaving Frost and others she had come to know over her time on the Gemini, however the Conny came with the benefit of serving with her friend Jalana Laxyn (now [[Rajel, Jalana|Jalana Rajel]]). Shortly after being assigned, T'Mar was once again approached to be a First Officer. Not wanting to fail again, she accepted the position with the drive to not let her friend down as she felt she had done to Frost. On board to Conny, she was reunited with [[Sinda Essen]], who previously served with her on the Gemini. After a long struggle, T'Mar has been working on breaking down barriers and become more friendly with the crew and not be so guarded.

When the two said goodbye, neither admitted how deep their feelings went, but both suggested that they did not want things to end. The pair barely spoke after T'Mar's transfer and the Apollo's destruction. T'Mar also learned that Salek was killed when his ship was destroyed by a wave of interference in subspace.

The two began their relationship again and things seemed to be progressing well at first. The pair tried to live together, but shortly after, Bolani went to visit family and notified T'Mar that they were breaking up. This action threw T'Mar into a spiral and she began using medication to help her numb her feelings.
