This is both a sport and the all consumeing love and passion of almost every person on the planet. It can be played by both men and women. A team is made up of 5 players. These 5 players are broken down like this. 2 are defenders who try and protect a wooden stake set in the ground at their end of the field. They can not use their hands but do have long wooden poles with a hook on one end and a tough leather pad on the other. They use this staff to strike and stop the Jugger. Only 1 player may handle the leather and wood mesh ball. This player is the jugger. The object of the game is for the jugger to get control of the ball then take it into the opponents area and jam it onto the wooden stake in order to score a point. The other 2 players are protectors. They also have wooden staff's. All players except the jugger have protective gear. It is not unknown for players to be killed dureing a game. | |||
