Are there more imposters on the Constitution? Will they succeed in their plan of take over - if that is what they want? Will the Conny crew be able to regain control? === Summary October/November ===
While things seemed calm and collected for repairs of Hermes station near the Tholian border, that image of peace and unity was a total illusion. While the Constitution Crew continued with the repairs of Hermes Station, and the teams on the Constitution equally continued to calm down crew members upset by the news from the Frontier Day celebrations, quietly in the background different actions transpired that bit by bit pushed into the public eye.
Intel Officer and Gorn Exchange Officer Nugra had a heart to heart with his best friend Commodore Jalana Rajel, when he finally found himself trapped in an airlock with his bestie standing on the outside pushing the button to get rid of him. Luckily that was not successful thanks to the fast thinking of the haggle of Ollos in Engineering. One of the copies sacrificed himself to save the Gorn, who then had his very own reason to re-enact 'V for Vendetta'. Not only to find the imposter who dared to take on the shape of his BFF but to find the original. Intel Officer T'Mar joined him in this endeavour stringing along another very shocked and traumatized Ollo who had just lost a part of himself, quite literally. For that they broke into the Second Officer's Office, who also happens to be a Mission Specialist with a bunch of access they found quite handy, and began scanning the Hermes Outpost? Why? Because it seemed like a logical choice of location to hide the Commodore, and the realisation that she started to act all weird after returning from her trip to the surface.
While that team was working hard on finding their Mama Bear, there was more chaos all through the ship. Lieutenant Lystra, Ensign Ba'el and Lieutenant Park made their way through the ship to calm down agitated and distressed crew members when they were informed by the aforementioned Intel pair about their finding of the Commodore not being herself. After that revelation both Lystra and Ba'el got their mind blown by finding out that Park was one of the imposters as well. They were surprised by Terpes right after and were trapped in location by raising gravity. Security Officer D'Sena was called to join and find out who was the imposter as both parties accused each other. As park was too eager for a blood test, the Commander decided on using a phaser sweep as suggested by Ba'el, following Dominion measures. With the sweep it was revealed that Park indeed was something else, though the reaction was different from expected. Park did not turn into goo, but merely bubbled a little out of shape before going back to her Park self, though displaying some burning damage from the sweep. If she was a changeling, it was an evolved kind, but D'Sena kept the option open that it was a whole different species altogether. Lystra was put on duty to sweep the ship for imposters, especially Jalana. Ba'el and Terpes were sent out to check on another team that had sent a distress call earlier, while she would bring Park to the brig.
Once in the brig Akeelah managed to get some information of Fake park, among others that they changelings were not in kahootz with the pirates, but also that there were at least five Changelings in that group if not more. When confronted with what could possibly happen to the Ellie Changeling after all this was over, she became more willing to cooperate. But would that be enough to get away with her life?
After Lieutenant Commander Herren sent her message that the First Officer Diz'mim Ch'Nilmani and Atan T'Seva are imposters and have killed two officers on the bridge, the pair was on the run to find a way to prove their innocence. That way lead them to the Counseling offices in search of the telepathic help of Zeylinn, though couldn't find her. Instead they were surprised by a security team who had deducted that was what they were going to do. Only a moment after they were joined by Ba'el and Terpes as well whose way had lead to the offices as the officer in distress had been Zeylinn who as we know by now was not in her office. Quite a demand on one person. After a long round of each proving they were not a changeling through phaser sweeps, the teams decided to split up to get the ship back. Just in time to hear another Herren announcement that begged the mutineers to stop because the pirates were on their way back for another battle round. She claimed that the mutineers had locked control of the ship so neither she nor Ch'Nilmani could control the ship against said pirates. Now if you wonder how Ch'Nilmani can be trying to help Herren to regain control and be a mutineer at the same time, don't worry our heroes wondered the same and deducted that he clearly was not a mutineer but that Herren must be fake too. So they went on with the split: T'Seva, Flores and Ba'el made their way to Engineering to find ways to regain controls of the ship, while Ch'Nilmani, Cain and Terpes headed to the bridge trying to get access.
The very popular Zeylinn meanwhile was with Torrel and Rendov Felbri of OPS trying to find Azura Ada to inform her of the issues. Since localisation systems were offline and their calls went unanswered they tried to figure out another way. That other way was Queen, the wife of Lazarus Davis. As we may recall Azura switched places with him, through a science experiment and in her world Queen was also her wife. Using that complicated relationship, they found Queen who agreed to call her, but also didn't go through.
Meanwhile Commander Azura Ada took it onto herself to find out if the Officers returning to the ship before were still who they said they were and with transporter recordings, reconstructed body samples and some experimentation she discovered that both Herren and Rajel were indeed changelings and announced her findings to the ship. That also solved the dilemma of the aforementioned team, at least knowing she was alive and aware of what was going on.
At the same time Lystra decided to set a trap for our changelings. Together with Cadet Dinaes of Security she planted herself in the Lower Computer Core and announced to the ship that she would be restoring the localisation systems that had been disabled by Herren before. That would allow our heroes to localize our imposters too and obviously the changelings couldn't allow that. Hearing the message transmitted across the ship channels, Herren got on the move. Knowing her identity was compromised she changed form into that of one of the board children, Rol'Q, and headed straight to the Lower Computer Core where she managed to trick Dinaes into believing she really was the child while Lystra did not believe it for a second. She opened her comms to transmit what transpired next to the whole ship. She at first attempted to verbally convince the changeling to give up but that went as well as expected so a firefight broke out, and the whole ship was witness.
One of the teams was Nugra and T'Mar, who had meanwhile found locations in the outpost that sensors could not penetrate. They deemed it to be good locations to hide kidnapped Commodores and then picked up a pattern in the electric currents in the outpost as well. They were joined by the newly returned Yito Seja who had a look at the pattern and discovered it was a message "SOS TRILLS". Plural, oh my. While the team made plans to check that out, the firefight transmission put a dampener into that. They contacted Felbri who was still with Queen and sent his team to the outpost as it was less suspicious to send OPS officers down there. So while they would go check the locations, Nugra, T'Mar and Yito headed out to give backup to Lystra.
And that was necessary because the changeling in Rol'Q form had knocked out Dinaes real good and did not give in one bit to Lystra's words or shooting. On the contrary the changeling returned that fire and hit our heroine badly. They came in time to attempt to subdue her when Lystra remembered how they had disabled Park before. Passing that on to T'Mar the Vulcan of Intel raised gravity in the section and practically slammed Rol'Q and Lystra into the ground. Fake Rol'Q was anything but happy. Just then the ship shook as they were hit by an attacking ship - anyone forgot that the pirates were on their way back? The pirates certainly didn't. And "Rol'Q" didn't either, he was just surprised that the ship didn't get blown up by that attack. After all that changeling had disabled weapons and shields so the pirates could destroy the Conny. Because if they can't have it, nobody can! In a last ditch effort the changeling changed into a very haunted form of Jalana Rajel herself, to initiate a self destruct. But guess what. Starfleet has protections for that and needing the confirmation of the First Officer put a dampener on that plan too. So that would make two changelings out of action. Progress!
But how did the crew manage to raise the shields you ask? Flores, T'Seva and Ba'el found out that the systems were not available to them no matter how much they would try, because the programming used to achieve that was completely new and added by the changelings. Nobody but Herren or Rajel would be able to unlock that and those were not around. So what would the nifty Engineer do? No, not giving up. Our team in Engineering decided to build a new computer core. Working together with other engineers the weapon and defense systems were unlinked from the regular core and taken over by the makeshift version that Flores and Co could then utilize. So shields were back and weapons at the ready, just in time for the attack.
While the ship was in orbit it was in a holding pattern just floating around the planet, which was a bad idea when being target for a group of pirate ships. Since they couldn't regain control of the flight system, Flores and Kapoor of OPS came up with a plan. That plan would involve beaming hazardous material into the ship's flight path so the automated system would detect the danger and avoid it, hence being steered. Kapoor prepared all the material she could find in the cargo bays and handed control over the beaming process to the bridge who would have a better eye on where they were going thanks to their view screen.
Not aware of the latest developments other than the ship wide messages, was the changeling formerly in the shape of Jalana. As their identity had been busted they had taken on another form as well, who then had broken into the quarters of the Atan family and taken the child named Lera as a hostage to put pressure on the adults of the family. What they had not expected as the early return of the mother who would most definitely not like what she'd see as soon as she would open the door...
Meanwhile on Hermes outpost Engineers Minxing Shimisi and Mylas Bosko hotfixed COMMs of the outpost itself and then had their very own run in with a changeling - yep another one. This one had taken form of the Chief of Engineering Lida, who was now fed up that everyone on the ship had their fun in their high positions and she had to be down there in the outpost doing actual work. Well she actually said that out loud which blew her cover. Another fire fight broke out but that was not transmitted, luckily. Another stroke of luck was that Bosko has a fancy piece of jewellery that emits some current that put Lida into a puddle that was easily contained in a vessel.
Only moments later they were joined by Felbri, Zeylinn and Torrel informing them about the blind spots in the outpost and they went off to see the wizard... wrong movie... off to check those spots out with high hopes that the Commodore was actually down there somewhere.
And with the pirates now having arrived and ready to blow up the Conny, that would be most fortunate, because the crew really could use getting control of the ship back! Let's hope they make it!
