# '''232001.01''': Event.
Ao-Chuan grew up in the Township of Lam, the second son of the Ao-couple, and the apple of his mother's eye. Thanks to her influence - as the Town Presider and Judicator, he started to aspire to a life in service to justice, and once he reached Bre'une - the Age of Affirmation - he chose a life in service to the Avatar of Law and Justice. Once his education came to an end, he joined up with local law enforcement to his mother's dismay. She had always hoped he would follow in her footsteps and become a Judicator, but Ao-Chuan soon showed a knack for the more menial tasks of handling the day-to-day infractions, and he was soon known for his commitment to the community and his eternal optimism that won the respect of his fellow officers and the people he served to defend. He fell in love with the sister of one of his colleague's, I-Mey, who was a compassionate and gentle woman, who shared his passion for helping others. They married after just a year of courtship, delighting their respective families.
# '''232001.02''': Event, etc.

As Ao-Chuan's career progressed, he started to feel limited by his position. He enjoyed serving the community, but he also felt that his talents could be more well-utilized in a position that allowed him to reach farther, to touch more lives. He considered enlisting with the colonial patrols - extending his patrols into the Arken system itself - but I-Mey was concerned that his increased time away from home would cause them to drift apart. Initially, Ao-Chuan tried to assuage her fears, but their shared stubbornness soon meant that discussions would inevitably turn into heated arguments.
After months of tension, they filed for a divorce, and while the split was amicable and a shared decision, Ao-Chuan found that he needed a new lease on life. Knowing that his desire to serve and protect those in need had cost him the chance of happiness with I-Mey, Ao-Chuan opted to search away from Arken V and the home system, instead applying to Starfleet Academy, the organization with the farthest reach and the best training for those hoping to make a difference. His mother, ever doting and disapproving of Ao-Chuan's life choices, did not take the news well, and by the time Ao-Chuan was slated to depart for Starbase 118 for his first year as a Cadet, him and his mother's conversations had become increasinly irregular and frigid.
