Solas’ Bajoran grandparents were scientists given refugee on a Vulcan science vessel near the beginning of the Cardassian occupation. They settled on the Vulcan Colony Koris III for a time, where his grandmother gave birth to his father. Before they were permitted to resettle on Vulcan under a work visa as Associate Researchers for the Vulcan Science Academy and evenentually obtained Vulcan citizenship. | |||
Even growing up, Solas settled into an imbalance between his Vulcan and Bajoran heritage. He has inherited Vulcan superstrength and telepathy from his mother, but while his strength is above average for his age his telepathic abilities are somewhat weaker, despite them being of more interest to him. Seeking to escape the feeling of being caught between his heritage, he enrolled in Starfleet academy. His interest in Starfleet came from the desire to participate in humanitarian work, however his above average strength made him a natural fit for the security forces. Despite that he embraces the role in security, and hopes one day for a role on a support vessel. | |||
