Born in Toledo, Ohio on Earth while his direct family was visiting family, Teddy, as he's informally nicknamed by his fellow marines and friends, enlisted in Starfleet Security at the age of 18 before his passion for combat outweighed his desires to protect. He formally requested to transfer to the Marines at 21 years old. Initially trained to be a heavy weapons expert and assigned to the heavy weapons team on the USS 'Oumuamua, Teddy was identified by command for his exceptional targeting skills and reassigned to the advanced sniper team.
Born in Toledo, Ohio on Earth while his direct family was visiting family, Teddy, as he's informally nicknamed by his fellow marines and friends, enlisted in Starfleet Security at the age of 18 before his passion for combat outweighed his desires to protect.
Growing up on the planet Gault, Teddy's family was one of the original, founding families, of the Gault colony. About 10 years ago the O'Reilly family, along with the other major Gault farming families were offered a buy out by the Ferengi Agricultural Consortium. Seeing an opportunity to improve his family's situation, Teddy's father chose to sell to the Ferengi. The offer came with the incentive of an extra 35% profit if the entire Gault colony sold to the consortium. Many other families chose to sell, but a few hold outs decided to keep their land. After the deal was done, Teddy's father was hit with brokerage fees, insurance fees, transaction fees, and relocation and reconstruction fees which summed enough to force them to work for the Ferengi to continue a living. They worked the same farms they once owned to earn enough to leave Gault. The family still works on Gault. Teddy was fortunate enough to win a internship in Starfleet security and never looked back.
