He's about a year older than Dekas. They met through their mothers being well-known historians within their respective flocks, and good friends. Zaraleek was Dekas' best friend that wasn't family. At some point, Dekas found himself very in love with Zara. He told him so and considered courting him. But Zara is a free spirit and before anything could be acted on, Zara was given permission to study medicine on Vulcan and left Aurelia for it. (He also has a small amount of training in basic mental health counseling that acts as a helpful addition to his healing practices, especially when it comes to the more traumatic recovery needs. But his main skill is in medicine. While he makes himself easy to talk to as a short-term mental health assistant in the case of there not being an active counselor where he's working, he actively seeks out and recommends proper counselors and therapists for those people in the meantime, seeing as his goal as a healer is to help create long-term healing goals after the fact, including finding mental health doctors that will help more than he can.)
