Azura Ada grew up on Earth, the eldest child of Derek and Rita Davis. At the age of 16, after surviving a harrowing medical trauma, she felt that her purpose in life was renewed and thus gave herself a new name – borrowing from a biblical story of a man resurrected. Azura went through high school and her undergrad experience because it was what she was supposed to do, but the aforementioned medical trauma during high school helped Lazarus realize that life is precious and perhaps too short to simply go with the flow. Against the objections of her parents, Azura pursued a PhD in cognitive science where she explored her interests of embodied cognition.

During her time in academia, Azura found herself empowered like never before. She met and fell for a Vulcan named Kovar while writing her dissertation, which lead her down a path of self-discovery: sexuality, neurodivergence, and gender. This brought a level of peace and wholeness to Azura like she's never known.

After completing her PhD, she enrolled in Starfleet Academy. She found the experience equally rewarding and challenging. Learning to be a science officer was a fun, new challenge. After being so steeped in the social sciences, having a chance to learn so much about the physical sciences was exciting. Plus her expertise as a research psychologist offered some relatively unique affordances as a chief science officer, as most chief science officers come from physical science disciplines.

In her spare time, Azura is a songwriter and composer, as well as an avid music listener. She traces her musical preferences to a series of late 20th century Earth musicians and composers. Azura also dabbles in writing holoprograms that live between typical holonovel-conventions and art.

Azura takes a degree of fascination in inspecting Lazarus' life, but she sometimes finds it overwhelming to empathize with the pain she knows he carries with him. She wonders how he's adjusting to stepping into her life. At present, there are no known means of communication with other quantum realities.
