Their distress signal was answered by a Starfleet vessel passing through the system. S’Raga had never met anyone from Starfleet before, but he had seen some their vessels docked at certain stations that they had flown to, and all he knew is that they had the most beautiful ships he had ever seen. When he realized he was finally going to be able to be inside one of them, he no longer felt quite as sad that they’d have to leave the ferry behind. Moments later, the Starfleet ship dropped out of warp just off their bow, and it was even bigger and more magnificent than the ones S'Raga had seen before. S’Raga had never been beamed through a transporter before and the experience gave him a queasy feeling, but he immediately got over it as soon as he looked around the room in which they had just materialized. The inside of the ship was just as beautiful as the outside, he thought. | Their distress signal was answered by a Starfleet vessel passing through the system. S'Raga’s encounter with Starfleet had probably been the best day of his eight-year-old life; one of the officers on the ship noticed the small Caitian ogling at every single wall display, so she offered to take him and his father on an unofficial tour of the places civilians were allowed to access. The highlight of the tour was the observation lounge, where S’Raga ran right up to the giant windows overlooking the exterior hull and the stars beyond. He spent the rest of the trip sitting there, pretending he was piloting the ship and controlling its every move. The rest of the trip to Regulus III, where they were brought to a Starfleet Science Academy, was much too short, in his opinion. S’Raga and his father spent the night at the Academy until another ferry was able to pick them up the next day to take them back to Cait. S’Raga got no sleep at all as he spent all night gazing out the window towards the sky, watching various spacecraft fly | S'Raga’s encounter with Starfleet had probably been the best day of his eight-year-old life; one of the officers on the ship noticed the small Caitian ogling at every single wall display, so she offered to take him and his father on an unofficial tour of the places civilians were allowed to access. S’Raga got no sleep at all as he spent all night gazing out the window towards the sky, watching various spacecraft fly overhead. From then on, he knew in his heart that he’d one day be a Starfleet pilot. | ||
