Daniel intially found it difficult to adapt to life in Starfleet and was rapidly falling behind in his classes. Daniel decided it was time to end his sessions with Lt.Cmdr Farquhar having sought refugee with his class mates discussing issues. His classmates now confided in Daniel more than ever, and unbeknown to them, both the Commandant and Lt.Cmdr Farquhar noticed his extreme ability to deal with people and situations. Daniel was approached speratly on numerous occasions asking him to swap course from Security to Counseling, all times he refused. Daniel aslo proved highly suited to the role of a Security Officer having gained top marks in his Command test. His teacher Lt.Cmdr Sidney Riley was later to become his first Officer. After succesfully completing all three tests Daniel proudly accpeted his graduation and subsequent promotion to Ensign.
