Hera Kijana was born to a middle class family on Rekar III in a small trading village Just east of the capitol city. She had a fairly normal upbringing with typical schooling. She spent most of her time on the family farm until she was 16. From there, she opted to follow along with her mother's footsteps by participating in her voyages hauling freight across the galaxy. It wasn't until her 20's that she developed a sure sense of wanting to travel the stars. Starfleet seemed to be the next logical step for her. Hera is a closet socialite that does enjoy the company of others, but doesn't always search for that. She has the ability to look at things in different ways in order to come up with the best solution. She is a fan of all types of music, and loves to eat. Darkness is her friend and she keeps her quarters as such. She's a fan of metaphysics and the mystical, but ultimately bases her work activities in logic, reasoning and science.
