*'''Weak-empath''': Being Betazoid, Olivia is expected to be a strong empath. Not all Betazoids are created equal however, and Olivia's telepathic capabilities were always weak. She never developed the means to telepathically communicate with other Betazoids without physical contact. Her empathic skills also tend to be weak, require close proximity to get a good read on other people. Olivia is both looked down on, and pitied by most other Betazoid's due to this. ==Personal Background==
Olivia was born on Betazed to Kaylen and Sophia. Her childhood was initially fairly normal as far as Betazoid standards. It became clear early on however that her telepathic abilities lagged in development behind other kids. By the time she was 12 she was sent to a special school to help with the disability. Over time it was clear that Olivia would never have the same abilities that the rest of her race enjoyed and it isolated her socially. Eager to get away from those who would look down on her, Olivia joined starfleet to make a name for herself.
