Shark is excellent in subjects such as Piloting of major and minor ships, engineering, tactics (where he demonstrated leadership skills), navigation and languages but on the other hand in subjects such as science or medicine I really do not stand out at all which was not well seen by some instructor but on the other hand he managed to complete the necessary credits in those subjects to graduate from the academy being the only graduate in that year (something very strange in the academy) but that did not discourage him to continue.

Dave did a good job at Juneau on his first mission, despite arriving at it at the end but at the right time for the key moments to be presented to him ...
He was able to observe and collaborate in the defense of his ship against the Romulan ships of the Jam 'Hader, which guaranteed that they reached a peace agreement and unmasked their creators, allowing the Federation to have a new ally in the galaxy.
At the end of this mission, Shark was awarded two recognition for being part of the Juneau crew... First the Diplomatic Ribon, that according to Captain Oddas (captain of the ship) was due to the following actions that are described verbatim in the ceremony award:
Capitán Aria Oddas: "Likewise, it became apparent when the Breen were using the Jem'Hadar found were also victims of the Breen renegades the Juneau crew worked to deescalate the situation, and put the framework in place in order for them to, potentially, thrive as a peaceful colony in the Wilds. This work is recognized by the crew being awarded the Diplomacy Ribbon"
Secondly, the Operation Safe Harbor Service Medal was awarded to the crew for the following actions
Captain Aria Oddas: "When we first heard of ships being attacked in the Wilds I assumed there would be a few rogue actors behind them - when it was revealed to be a quasi-organized group of Breen renegades, the crew stepped up and worked to uncover the group behind it and put an end to it. This work means there is one less of band of pirates in the Wilds"
Dave in particular was not proud of these decorations because according to his thoughts his actions were not effective enough to deserve them, but being part of the crew he had earned them.

Juneau's second mission for Shark set in a town called Sunrace near New York in July 1969.
In this mission Dave represented a New York Police Homicide Detective who was a veteran of the Vietnam War and when he returned from the war he enlisted in the police academy. After graduating he made a career in the force until he became a first-class detective in the homicide department.
In a first act Shark moved to a town near New York with a murder case in the nearby places.
He approached the celebration of July 4 in order to integrate and know a little more about each of the local people. It also served to share with known people and new local people.
The Second Act, Dave visit the owner of the antique store who wanted to talk with him, when he arrived he observed that the local journalist was accompanying the owner of the store which was very strange for him.
After entering, the owner of the antiques store indicated that she had evidence about the misdeeds of a New York gangster and wanted protection from the NYPD to take him to jail, during this process an earthquake arrived which almost ended their lives due to the collapse of the premises where both he and the journalist managed to rescue the owner of the premises alive after part of the walls collapsed on her. From this event they continued their rescue so that when a gas explosion occurred, the body of Shark and his companions happened.
