* The '''Xith''' are an Insect-Humanoid species with a hard exo-skeleton designed to withstand the extreme heat of living close to their sun.  Their dense outer shell protects them against phaser-based weapons.  Likewise, their ships are made of similar materials.  Both the Xith and their ships require projectile type weapons or explosives to penetrate the armor.  They consume the natural and biological resources of every planet, leaving them barren and dead.
