Born on the homeworld, Rinev is the second son of Ry'lek Shryn, the head of a minor clan (keth) and a Captain in the Andorian Imperial Guard, and Kyss Rollis a minor diplomatic attache to the ambassador to the Rigellian Assembly. His parents we never in a traditional union and so the birth of both Rinev and his elder brother Shoth were artificial, donors were used where required. His parents have long since drifted apart with many on Andoria attributing this to their non-traditional union.
