He grew up on the Denobulan homeworld, son to academics, in a comparatively small family to the Denobulan standard. Being a quick learner and a natural leader, he volunteered for many extra-curriculars during his education and found himself in a placement at the Denobulan consulate. Idolizing the elders who kept the peace after years of wars with the Antaran, he learned the potency of communication and diplomacy.

His superior, Conso, believed that he would be a good candidate for Starfleet and his energy would be wasted on Denobula. Conso wrote a letter of recommendation to Starfleet without Malko’s knowledge and things were a whirlwind from there on. It had never been on Malko’s radar to become a Starfleet officer, but he was soon convinced by the support of his two wives, especially Thabena - who’s sister was saved by a slarfleet ship when stranded on an interplanetary flight. Malko packed his bags, recordings, favourite tumbler glass and began the long journey to Starfleet Academy in hopes to save other lost souls.
