*Blake bumps into Ekal in a turbolift on Star Station Esperance early 2395. Despite never mentioning where she was going, he bids her goodbye by telling her to "enjoy the wedding" (of Delano and Mei'konda).

*Ekal improves the sensor equipment aboard the civilian freighter SS ''Rowena'' in ''[[Sky Blake/"Kidman I"|Kidman I]]''. When asked, he claims he, a Rigelian, left his homeworld of [[Rigel V]] to get away from the politics surrounding the Rigelians and the [[Kalar]]. He is aboard the vessel when it picks up [[Tristam Core]] and [[Sky Blake]] in a malfunctioning escape pod, and is told to strip said pod by the ''Rowena'' captain.

*In ''[[SIM:Jhalib Ekal - Die trying.|Die Trying]]'', it's established Ekal suffers from an ongoing medical condition being worsened by chroniton radiation, and that he has a daughter named "Nairen". Merce Ekal, his partner, is a [[Coverian]] doctor.
