Frustrated and unable to find a role for himself within the Empire, MeK'Tul partitioned his father to allow him to join the Federation Marines. While initially strongly opposed to the idea, his father eventually agreed to the request after arguing that there was honor to be had in the SF Marines as the federation was an ally to the Empire. There is whispered speculation within House Tenalor that Kortok was is pleased to have his disappointment of a son far from him, however, the one warrior who drunkenly voiced this idea to Kortok was disemboweled.
