The '''USS ''Thor'' '''was built in 2385 and was part of an initiative to refocus on exploration and fleet-wide modernization. The Thor was built at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards on Mars in the Sol sector and launched under the command Captain Oscar Chungo to explore the frontiers of the Alpha Quadrant. However, follow the Hobus Supernova Disaster in 2387, the Thor was sent into the Beta Quadrant to help with relief efforts to resettle displaced Reman and Romulan communities. In 2389, the Thor was one of the first Federation vessels to come into contact with the invading Klingon forces near Romulan territory that hoped to take advantage of the chaos caused by the Hobus disaster and the weakened Romulan Empire. While the Thor was able to give the Federation notice of the impending Klingon Invasion the ship itself was nearly destroyed. It was eventually brought back to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards where it has been since early 2390.
