Jora used his time at the Academy to fully explore his interests. Although he enrolled and immediately focused in science/xenobiology, he availed himself of as many open lectures and seminars as possible. This slightly signifies his reluctance to commit to a life in science, particularly biological sciences. He has a strong interest in intercultural studies and linguists but was never fully able to explore them. For the most part, he remained motivated to stay the course and complete his degree in xenobiology, on a path to medical school.

At Starfleet Medical Academy, Jora applied for and was accepted to a Federation-sponsored training externship on the Ferengi commerce world Granor. Assigned to a clinic in a busy port city, Jora was exposed to a wide variety of species, cultures and medical curiosities. He counts this experience as one of the defining moments of his life thus far.
His primary specialty is in community health (both from a primary care and health management perspective) and biomedical research.
