The Warp Core was ejected and the resulting explosion threw the Gorn off the Independence's trail but a "dead" Gorn in Sickbay escaped and managed to break into Engineering. The Gorn was knocked out by gas pumped into the room but not before he'd killed at least one Crewman and badly injured Salak.
