<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam had engaged himself in a lovely conversation with a young

Lieutenant. He was happily eating his soup while they discussed the USS

Gorkon and previous postings. Perhaps Adam had already met a friend?::

Haase: Oh, really? I've always wondered what is was like being an

operations officer. I've never actually had the ship experience, but I

double majored in Engineering and Com/Ops. So...what do you think about the

Gorkon? In my opinion, nice ship - weird name.

Rosek: It's named after a famous Klingon chancellor. He was responsible for

peace between the Klingons and the Federation. ::pauses:: Although I have

to admit it doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Haase: I know, right? ::Adam laughed::

<nowiki>::</nowiki>The lieutenant took another cup of her tea, and Adam took another swish

of his soup, which Adam hadn't realized was so hot. He almost spit it out,

but managed to swallow it. He took a piece of his grilled cheese and placed

it in his mouth in an attempt not to scream. Unfortunately, his tongue was

now numb, and unable to taste the delicious sandwich. Adam figured that if

he couldn't eat, he'd continue talking.::

Haase: I just hope that Engineering is as good as I hope it it. I've never

actually had the chance to study Quantum Slipstream Drive in action - so

this will be a first.

Rosek: I didn't get much of a chance myself. If I'd known before I

transferred departments that I'd be on a ship with one, I might not have

switched.

Haase: Yeah, I can understand that. ::Curiously:: When did you transfer?

Rosek: The mission before last, we were temporarily placed on another ship.

I requested a transfer after that mission for--personal reasons--not

realizing that while they were patching up the Victory, they'd equipped her

with a slipstream drive.

<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam nodded his head in agreement, and sipped his soup again, making sure

this time to adequately cool it off before placing it into his mouth. He

looked out the window - amazed by the amount of stars. Thousands of years

ago on Betazed, astronomers and astrologers alike created drawings - or

constellations as many call them - to help tell stories of old, myth and

legend. Adam admired the people of old. If he had not become an engineer,

he may have become an astronomer. But what more was there to discover? With

the advancement of technology, what is the need for staring through

telescopes or analyzing a star's components. It seemed that as much as

technology brought forth - it also took away. But Adam realized that he was

getting caught up in a world of his own, so he managed to take his eyes

away from the gleaming view to continue the conversation - as well as his

soup.::

Haase: ::taking another sip of soup:: I hope we get on our way soon. I find

that too much time on your hands can be dangerous. As my great-grandmother

used to say, "Idle hands are the Devil's playground." I know that shore

leave just began, but losing a ship is hard, and I'd prefer to spend less

time thinking about it and more time fixing something.

Rosek: Response?

Haase: ::looking at chronometer on wall:: Well, it was very nice to meet

you - but I have yet to check in with my department head. I should probably

do that....perhaps I will see you again?

Rosek: response?

Haase: Well, better go. Have a nice afternoon, Lieutenant.

Rosek: response(if any)?

<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam stood, and left. He carried his tray over to a replicator, where it

was rematerialized into energy. From there, he left the observation lounge

- in search for the Gorkon and his hiding Chief of Engineering.::
