She has one older brother, K'tal, one of the only people she has every cared for. When he was killed she drifted away from the rest of her family and started trying to look into a possible career with Starfleet. She finds it difficult to make friends because she has trouble opening up and getting close to people.
T'Var was born on Ty'Gokor where she lived for the first year and a half of her life. Although she was only very young at the time, some of her happiest memories were on Ty'Gokor this was because her brother, who doted on her, was living with the rest of them. Once they moved to Ivor Prime her bother was assigned to the Klingon ship Negh'Var
