Tyvak got his name as a combination of the first part of his mothers last name, and the last part of his fathers first name. He was born on Vulcan after his parents had married one year earlier. His parents met on Vulcan while his mother was there to visit as part of a cultural exchange program she was in. His father studied at the Vulcan Science Academy on many different subjects. Kathrine met Syvak at a dinner the Academy was hosting for the exchange program.

Tyvak has spent majority of his life on Vulcan. Before entering Starfleet Academy he had never been off Vulcan. Growing up Tyvak had a hard time fitting in. Being a hybrid he was too Human to be Vulcan and too Vulcan to be Human. With this being the case he spent most of his childhood in solitude keeping to himself. In this time he would read about different races and star systems this really peak his interests. The amount of spacial anomalies both discovered and undiscovered was endless. Sometimes when Tyvak was young he would sneak out at night go to a nice quiet place and just look up at the stars.

As he grew in to adolescence his fascination of the stars grew. When he became of age he applied to the Vulcan Science Academy and was accepted. He studied a numerous amount of things. Stellar Cartography being one of his main pursuits. Alien races was also another primary study for him. After studying many years at the academy he decided to leave. With no reason given to anyone Tyvak moved to a remote solitary location in the mountains were he concentrated on intensely focused meditation. This might have been due to never going through the purge of emotions known as Kolinahr.
 
 
The emotional strain began to be too much for Tyvak but it wasn't because of lack of the Kolinahr. It was Ponn Farr the time had come for Tyvak to take a mate. Even just being half Vulcan he could not control the primal urges of the blood fever. After some search he found a mate but was challenged by a male Vulcan by the name of Daviik. In accordance to Vulcan tradition Tyvak participated in the fight to the death, and he won. After it was over he had no desire to take a mate. Not knowing what to do after he figured the logical thing to do would be to apply to Starfleet Academy.
 
 
Once accepted to Starfleet Academy Tyvak left Vulcan and went to Earth to begin his program. He pursued a Science major with Operations/Communication minor.
