Despite her age and strengths, Aurora harbored a secret that has eaten away at her every day of her life. When she was in her freshman year of college at NYU, before she joined Starfleet Academy, she was raped, tortured and nearly murdered by a fellow student in her psychology class. Aurora endured this for a full week before she finally managed to escape with her life by blasting her attacker with his own phaser, unknown to her at the time that phaser was set to heavy stun not kill but it still gave her enough time to escape. Sadly, this week of rape, torture, and near death left her scared not only physically and psychologically, but also resulted in the birth of her daughter, Jazmine Amethyst James, who Aurora gave up for adoption right after her birth.  
Despite her age and strengths, Aurora's life hasn't been easy and she is a mother despite having given her daughter up for adoption.
 
Aurora’s first post was on the Duronus II Embassy/USS Thunder-A however she only served twenty one days. Aurora’s photographic memory sent her into a psychotic breakdown that overwhelmed her and forced her to come to terms with the  loss of her father, the torture she endured as a freshman in college,  and that with her combined guilt over giving up her daughter caused Aurora to then make a spontaneous and irrational decision  that could very well have cost her her career, that mistake was leaving the Embassy without a word or paperwork essentially being marked as AWOL or MIA and as such she has been laying low off the radar back on Earth trying to forge some kind of relationship with her now twelve year old daughter.

With that all said and done,  Aurora’s therapist declared her fit to resume duty should she feel like going back and Aurora caught the next shuttle headed back to Starbase 118 to answer for the consequences of her sudden departure with hopes of salvaging what is left of her career. With a new assignment in hand, Aurora headed off to DS26 to meet up with her new ship, the USS-Atlantis with hopes of making new friends and not making the same mistake twice.

The tide is turning and Aurora and Irina are starting to build a life together as lovers, partners, and friends aboard the newly relaunched ship with plans for their lives and the future ahead.
