	Salak first attempted to enter the Academy in 2376 but his third placing in the entry exam was not sufficient to gain him entry. However, Salak did manage to enter the Academy on his second attempt in 2377. His training cruise took place during the fortnight of 238110.10 to 238110.23, upon the ending of which Salak graduated and became an Ensign. He ~~specialised~~ in Engineering but nearly failed the basic medical courses.
