They had saved the Embassy, but lost the Thunder and many personnel due to the invasion. The year 2390 brought Hannibal and the Thunder a new ship, the [[USS Thunder-A]], and before they even left the Terran solar system they were involved in a mission on one of Jupiters' moons.
