That year, while on a mission to destroy a secret [[Orion Syndicate]] shipyard, Hannibal discovered the presence of the [[USS Avenger]], reported stolen several years ago. While the operation the destroy the shipyard commenced, Hannibal, along with several members of the Ronin crew, managed to get the Avenger underway while the Orions were responding to the attack. Using the "frak you" warhead which Defiant Class warships were equipped with, Hannibal completed the destruction of the shipyard...it was Hannibals' first command of a starship in any capacity. It was also during this time Hannibal explained the role Rhuls' parents played in the death of his father and the desecration of his mother. In 2389, Hannibal was assigned to the [[ USS Thunder-A]], just in time for the combined Klingon/ Orion Syndicate Invasion. In the prelude to the invasion, the Syndicate sent six assasins to kill him, but Hannibal killed four of them before he was trapped in a warehouse full of Romulan explosives. With fires raging all along the waterfront, Hannibal dove through a window as the two surviving killers fired on the building, destroying it and most of the Romulan Embassy, believing Hannibal was dead. He was found by [[Hella]] and [[Allison, Kamela]], who had now been assigned to the Embassy, and brought back to the secret cave Hella had been using for covert operations. Hannibal, near death, was saved by the actions of [[Turner, Toni]] and they kept his survival a secret, letting the Klingons and Orions believe that they had indeed killed him. | |||
