Her plan almost worked, as she was only a few hours from Earth when she was caught by her father's old shipmates, Dr. Michael Mitchell and Captain ~~Joregenson~~. However, one of her father's best friends, Doctor Michael Mitchell, did attend the hearing and vouched for her.
